The Isle of Wight

Having lived on the Island for over 30 years and taken many photos which were just sitting on various servers I thought I would share them. For me they jog many memories and maybe for you also …

The North

The North of the Island is a land of contrasts – from busy Ryde, the sailing in Cowes with its crescendo in August to the leafy lanes, birdlife and solitude of Newtown. Queen Victoria made her home at Osbourne and the empire came to visit.

The South

From Ventnor with its unique setting and climate, past St Catherine’s lighthouse, the crumbling cliffs famous for dinosaur skeletons to Tennyson downs and the Needles. Enjoy sweeping views of the landscape, sea and chalk cliffs.

The East

From Seaview and Bembridge through Sandown and Shanklin there’s something to appeal to everyone. Sailing, beaches, chines and downland walks. Come in the summer for a traditional holiday or in the winter to enjoy the peace and quiet.

The West

Only 40 minutes by ferry from Lymington, Yarmouth with its cosy pubs is a a great place to visit in summer or winter. The Old Gaffers festival offer folk music and a chance to see the old sailing ships gather here.

The Middle

Roman villas, manor houses, a stunning castles and thatched roof villages. Leafy lanes, footpaths and bridle ways offer the visitor over 500 miles of rights of way, permissive paths and bridleways.
